Which you to go for?

If you have to choose between FPJ Resonance either in 38mm or 40mm to Lange here to PP worldtime which would you go for. The criteria for choosing is 50% based on movement innovation and 50% based on design and brand value.
Answer:
the FP Journe. Not because he makes bad watches and not because he doesnt have nice and inovative ideas ... just because of the crown shape he uses. I (!!) HATE those and the Resonance has two of them. If I am not mistaken the 12 o´clock crown is the one used to wind the watch and that position isnt the easiest to reach.
Between the PP (5110 I guess is the worldtimer?) and the Lange here, I guess I would pick the Lange, but this decision is based on having seen only the PP 5110 (in two colors, yellow and PT iirc) in the metal. I wasnt impressed by the dial, not even that on the PT 5110, and was not impressed by the feedback given by the here button.
I havent seen the Lange TZ watch in the metal but it looks promissing from the pictures. It has one MAJOR advantage over the PP in that is is a manual wind watch.

Other then that one major advantage I like the fact that it displays seconds, PR and date; to me important and usefull complications... but you can say I am ... uhhhhh ... a little biased :-)
Enjoy the hunt for your here watch; as you know both brands make fantastic watches so pick the one that feels best and brings the biggest smile on your face.
Best regards,
Edwin
Answer:
I DO admire the idea behind the resonance from FP Journe since the essence of a (wrist-) watch is keeping time as accurate as possible.
And, as I understand it, Mr. Journe is going to produce only ´special´ watches in the future, so if you want an ´affordable´ Journe watch I guess that now is the time to get one.

Answer:
Lange, by default. I agree with Edwin, I hate the crowns on the FPJ. I find they detract from his watches and ruin the overall appearance and design of the watch for me.
In terms of the Patek, I've been to 2 dealers and neither seemed to be able to properly use the world time function, nor could they get it to do what they wanted. In addition, I'm not crazy about the lack of a minute track and the texturing of the center dial on this watch. Its one Patek, that for me has no redeeming features. Give me a JLC Geographic any day. Easier to use, easier to understand at a glance and IMHO a better looking watch.
The Lange is the watch I'd choose out of the 3 you mentioned. Not my first choice for a Lange because I still prefer the original 38.5mm size for L1s, but I could make an exception for this watch. I did get to try one on a month ago, and overall I thought it was quite nice. I still think the JLC Geographic is easier to use, but Lange did a very nice job with this watch.
Good luck on whichever you choose.

A few points to consider. And please note that I own a PP 5110, but have not seen in the metal either the Lange or the FPJ--but love the pics of both.
1. The PP is a true Worldtime watch--that is you can see the time in any here of the world at one glance. I think this is a cool complication, but has not had much practical benefit for me--but then again none of my watches are very "practical." As a PP, this is likely to hold or increase in value. And I think especially the blued dial on the platinum 5110 is very striking.
2. The Lange is a very fancy dual here watch, with the added benefit of date and PR (and these are big added benefits).
3. The crown on the FPJ does not bother me at all (even though I like other crowns better). High quality and very innovative watch. I think FPJ makes fantastic watches, which will also increase in value in the future, but I don't like the look of the Resonance as much as the other two.
So I would pick the following:
1. Aesthetics--PP (platinum).
2. Functions/practicality--Lange
3. Innovation--FPJ
4. Size--PP or FPJ
5. Future value relative to current price--FPJ or PP.
And if I am not mistaken, the PP and Lange are available for much less than the FPJ if price is a consideration. And good news for the PP is that I would guess that you can get the best deal right now relative to MSRP on this watch compared to the other two.
Best of luck and let us know what you decide.

Edwin,
As I was reading your post, I was wondering why you consider the manual winding to be a big advantage. Perhaps you can elaborate?

Answer:
but I, and many others with me, prefer a manual wound over an automatic movement.
I have tried to find the words to explain this in the past but I cannot, or at least I havent found them yet. Another try: there is something to a manual wind movement that an auto lacks. I guess it has something to do with the fact that you have to give love to the manual wound watch in order to receive it back, whereas for an automatic movement, a winder suits it fine or just wearing the watch without giving it a second thought will keep it ticking as well ... like so many other things in live, beautiful or not, they just happen and/or continue happening without people noticing ... what a waste, imo.
You get punished (perhaps I should say rewarded here) when you forget to give a manual wind watch it portion of daily love it deserves. Not immediately with a Lange-1 due to it forgiving character/nature (sometimes, mistakenly?, reffered to as its 72+ hours of power reserve, LOL) but the Dato isnt that forgiving and it WILL stop after 36 hours or so. And yes, I am deeply ashamed to have to admit that it has happened to me ... more then once.
I hope the above makes sense.
Uhh, Mark, Dutch greetings from Moscou??

Answer:
is "respect", the essence of owning a manual wound watch???
Well, at least I warned you beforehand that it might be a religious thing :-)

Answer:
For a moment I actually thought there was a sensible reason :)
Just kidding ofcourse. I appreciate what you're saying and who am I to argue with that ?
Hey, you know, the Dutch are everywhere, lots of them in Moscow as well. I'm working as an expat in Russia. Moscow is a fascinating city.
Geen moment vervelend!
