Which watch would you consider to be a good match for a Datograph?
Pretend that you have all the sport/active watches you could ever want/need and then you only have room for only two "upper-tier" watches in your collection, and one is a Datograph, which of the following would you choose to compliment....
1. Lemania based chronograph (PP5070,RD,VC,Breguet)
2. Patek Perpetual Calendar (3940/5040/5059)
3. FP Journe Resonance
4. UN GMT Perpetual Calendar
5. AP Equation of Time
6. Another Lange
7. Other suggestions......

Tks - Watchlover01 Either the Patek 5040 or the 3940. If you own of those two Pateks, you will have one of the most admired and most classic watches of the greatest manufacture in the world. Simple.

IMHO the Lange-1 PT with rhodinated dial is THE nicest watch available currently and, again IMO, it is a perfect match or mate to a Datograph.
I have both (Dato and Stealth) and love them very very much. For my next watch I am considering again a Lange (big surprise, he) but I am thinking hard if I should add a non-white metal Lange to get some ´warmth´ in my ´collection´ (I dont consider the small number of watches I own as a collection btw).
So I suggest you have a look at the Stealth or, if you want to add some warmth, try a RG Lange-1 Moonphase or a ´regular´ Lange-1 in YG.
RE: the other options you are considering: I dont like the PP5070 since the dial seems weird: (to) big bezel and (to) big a tachy-meter ring but the Lemania movement is very very nice to look at. VC chronograph looks much and much nicer, IMO, and very very different from the Lange Dato. IIRC there are 2 sizes of VC Chrono´s available.
The PP3940 isnt a watch I like; the dial is unbalanced (empty at 12 o´clock) and I guess I would prefer the 5040. I love the 5059 very much though! Journe´s crowns ... yikes. UN and AP make very nice watches but I prefer a Lange instead.
Other suggestions ... a GO perhaps or, better?, a Dufour or a RW Smith?

7. Many excellent choices from AHCI members besides FPJ. No doubt going here my first choice would be Simplicity.
Other choices in your list are great too. Please keep us posted on which one you settle down. I am also on the hunt for my next watch, and even though I agree with Edwin(you can never go wrong with another Lange), all of my watches were chosen for their fine and unique movements.
I think for my next watch, I am looking for a fine and beautifully made dial, so for me I am looking at either a Breguet 5207 or the new Marine Big date(5817).

Current collection: Platinum Lange 1 darth, SS GO Panograph w/bracelet, SS Breitling Crosswind Special w/ Pilot bracelet, and SS Breitling Cockpit Big date. I sometimes think that their guilloche dials are too much. Take the 5207 f.i.:

Although not obvious from the specifications and the pictures, Lange's rhodinated dials do 'life' and are full of spirit.
