more specific: is the standard strap for a Rose gold Lange-1, not counting size, the same as the strap for a Rose gold Datograph? It is my understanding that Lange doesn't really have a "standard" strap for any model. The watches are shipped without straps due to customs issues (endangered species stuff). I think you can ask for any (available) strap color you want.
If you're asking which strap color they might "suggest" for a certain watch, based on their catalog and internet pictures, they show the RG/SD and RG/BD L1s on black straps, while they show the RG/GD L1 and RG Dato on dark brown straps. Both looks are very nice.

        I was asking because I saw a very nice Brown color strap (other brand and other measurements not correct to fit to a Dato) the dealer would have such a color strap made for the Dato
He, the dealer, called yesterday and told/asked me that he had another solution for the strap: why not use the brown strap from a 18kt Rose Gold Dato he suggested?
But looking in the Lange und Soehne brochures leaves me thinking that the strap used for, say, the Lange-1 Rose Gold is the same color as the strap for the Rose Gold Dato. And I didn't like that color brown for a Pt. Dato. The color I picked was much darker.
I'll ask the dealer to send both, the Lange Rose gold Dato strap AND the dark brown strap I liked... Does Lange (and other brands) ship straps and watches separately to non-US countries? I wondered whether this practice of shipping straps separately from watches occurred only in the US, due to the endangered species laws that protect the crocs and gators that live here, or if this practice occurred worldwide.

I had to wait for months because you cannot send those items directly from Switserland to The Netherlands; I don't know which law prohibits this, Swiss or Dutch (both?) but I think it is Swiss law because I later learned that Ebel sends it straps using a proxy in France.
When I was in Maastricht I learned that Patek does the same: they get the straps to France and send them from there.
But this happened when I ordered an extra/second strap. I am not sure what happens with new watches but my guess is that Lange sends them with straps, at least to their neighbours :-)
