Help! I just put a ding (or gash!) in the bezel and lug of my L1 Stealth. What to do?
Answer:
(thanks for your e-mail btw) If it really is bothering you (that) much, I suggest you send it back to Germany; but if that isn't the case, why not wait until your stealth is due for service?
Answer:
It can be taken care of at the factory. In fact, many of us met the gentleman who does case polishing for Lange during our recent visit to the workshops. I thanked him for the wonderful work he had done for me and he shrugged it off by saying "it is my job"! Nevertheless, he did superb work and I am sure will make your watch's case look like new.
Answer:
he has a technique of adding metal - platinum or appropriate gold to the ding, with a laser soldering technique...one witnessed by some of us, and absolutely amazing! Poof, a flash of light, and some platinum is added to the ding. Next step, polishing and viola! as good as new...(almost, I think)...:-)
Answer:
I was the one most fortunate to watch Thomas perform the laser filling technique, and it was incredible to watch. Prior to joining Lange Thomas was a jeweler in Dresden, thus the work he does on cases is just masterful. Kindest regards to all,
Charlie
