According to a report in the newsletter of Watchbizz.de (Oct. 24) A.Lange & Söhne have opened a technology- and developmentcenter of 1500 m2 on Oct.23, 2003, in the presence of Georg Milbradt, de prime minister of Saxony. I translate from German: "A sensation is the production of their own balance springs. [...] In one hall are all the machines necessary for the production. [...] Nevertheless, Lange will keep buying most of its springs from the Nivarox-monopoly."
I remember a German watchmaker speculating som eyears ago about an all-German watch, in his view a simple thing because the starting materials for parts like Nivarox hair springs are German (produced by VacuumSchmelze in Hanau).
An interesting development, isn't it?

also does lange make all parts on their own or do they get some from other manufakture??
