OK what's the link between Bucherer & Omega - Cool Bullhead pic !

Hi Guys,

I saw this on oBoy. The auction ended last night & the watch sold for $690 ( US )

Here are the pics...

Interesting or what ?

So what we appear to have here is a watch , marked as a Bucherer (externally & on the movement), which to all intents & purposes is identical to the Omega Bullhead.

Similarities

EVERYTHING ( except the items listed below)

Differences that I can see are ...

1 - Dial ( design, the format is identical )

2 - The movement. Whilst the parts are all the same shape & in the same location, they are not Rhodium plated ( some sellers claim it is red gold) & the bridge is clearly NOT marked Omega.

3- the case back is clearly NOT marked with an Omega case Ref #. I have not shown the pic of the outside of the caseback, but it is plain & has no Omega markings on it.

Unfortunatley the seller did not show a pic of the crowns, but I suspect that they are NOT marked Omega.

So did Omega make watches under other names, or did they sell the rights to this watch/movement to Bucherer ?

Or ( yes, I will write the unthinkable ) Did Omega buy watches from another manufacturer, rework certain parts & then sell them on as Omegas ?

I have also heard of a "Darth Vader" that was marked (on the dial) as a Bucherer. - Unfortunatley I don't have any pics of this.

Does anyone have an concrete information on the links between Bucherer & Omega ?

Steve www.Old-Omegas.com - a great place to find Omega brochures, owners manuals & more !
Confusion say :- Man with 1 watch KNOW time. Man with 2 watches never sure !
