Spam control.............

I don't think this is off topic here as unfortunatly its using this forum that seems to have generated most of these emails,
The problem I had was that my deleted folder also contained mostly spam but also emails I wanted to save, the longer I left it the worse it got.
So Ive now created an inbox sub-folder and transfer these emails here then delete the spam.
My deleted items folder I can now empty on a daily bases without having to pick through each email to see if I want to save it.
Maybe not rocket science to you all but as a computer nerd (in the true sense!) this is a major programming coup for me.
Any other tips
BTW my outlook express message rules seems to be ignoring all the "rules" I have in place ????
Shaun.
Answer:
:HI,
I don't understand what you wrote before about your folders, but as I am learning outlook express, I have a good idea. Anyway a tip that I have yet to use, but I will when I change my e-mail address here is:
Change your e-mail address to read something like:
RemovethispartXYZDaveT@something.com The idea here is that the e-mail address is really DaveT@something.com
And someone e-mailing you will have to remvoe the front part. Most spybots can't figure this out, so your name does not get pickedup, or it takes longer for it to be discerened and thus you start receiving e-mail.
A second way to do this is to make the first part of the name really different, so the spybots, etc. will definitely not be able to figure it out. And incllude in you signiture line your real e-mail address, or the instruction to remove "all" but
I hope this makes sense, and works as the idea is not original with me.

Hi Guys,
I have 2 main E-mail addresses. A Yahoo one that I've had for about 4 years now & a German Web.de one.
I get about 20-30 spam E-mails a day in Yahoo.
My Web.de account is as old as the "Beta" forum we are now using. I get about 1 spam E-mail a month here. I have only ever used this E-mail address in this forum, so I don't believe the spam generators are / can easily get my E-mail address from this fine forum we're using.
Both of these accounts have spam filters, which work pretty well. A few get through & every now & then an important E-mail gets filed as spam. I rarely open anything in my Spam file, unless I know the sender.
another advantage of these "free" E-mail addresses is that they have virus checkers, which you can use to check ALL attachments. Currently I'm getting about 10 virus infected E-mails a week from Sweden !
Disadvantages, They're free & can be withdrawn at any time. there are peek times when it's quite slow. I never store anything too personal there (telephone numbers etc) - I can't guarantee data security. you have to be signed onto the internet to read/access you E-mails.
Yes I could pay for an E-mail service.... why ? I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.
