somethin' that i have never understood

hi all omega friends
i have never understood why the finish of omega movements was changed from rose gold plated finish to rhodium plated finish.also what pains me and what pained me was that omega stopped to produce its movements in 1984, was it due for cost reasons? this is more a marketing aspect of omega rather than a typical watch debate but i want it to be debated.
thanks for your participation
