Contemplating my first ever chronograph...
But now a new bug is starting to bite.
I've been a fan of nice watches for 3 years now. I've bought and sold lots and lots. But I've never been attracted to chronographs. Till now. I'd like to explore Omega's options.
I have some questions --
1. Let's say I use the chrono functions an average of twice a day for a few minutes. Do the chrono functions hold up well after months and years? Do the hands reset to zero? I've heard stories, not specifically about Omegas, but other chronos.
2. I'm tending towards a chrono on the Speedy side, not so much the Seamaster side. Your thoughts on that?
3. If I had to have just one chrono from Omega in stainless, which should it be?
4. If I like the date function, how would that change my choice of just one Omega chrono?
Thanks, I'm enjoying this forum!
Answer:
1) It shouldn't be a problem. The chronograph was made to run, and with the usually five-year service, it should never fail you.2) Great choice, the Speedmaster Moon watch is an all time classic.
3) I'll go with the majority here and tell you it will have to be the Moon Watch.
4) That will allow you to go for the Broad Arrow, Moon phase, or one of the triple dates.

Damon
Answer:
moon watch and the Broad Arrow. This was my thinking too. They're apples and oranges, but I'll get just one for now. The moon watch gets great reviews. How about the Broad Arrow? I'd actually prefer the white dial blue hand version. I seem to remember reading some problem with the movement, like slowing or stopping after some time. I hope I'm wrong about that!Answer:
and man what an awesome watch it is! I love how it easy it is to read the blued hands, and the way the stand out from the white dial. The nice thing about this watch is that you can wear it when dressed up, and it won't look too out of place. I love my 57 Reissue Speedmaster, but it's nice to have a chronograph with a higher water resistance rating since I'm always around water.Best Regards,

Answer:
how is the luminescence at night?? (sorry folks!)
Answer:
If you were in a pitch-black room, it would be hard to read it around 4 or 5 a.m., but otherwise it's not a problem since the markers and hands stand out from the white dial. The luminescent material still glows at that time, but if your eyes are blurred, it takes a couple of seconds to read it. I find it a lot easier to read than my Aqua Terra at that time in the morning.Best Regards,

Answer:
Did you consider the Speedmaster Pro Moonphase for its date function? Available with "broad arrow" hands (at least in white dial) or classic Speedy hands, black dial (this is a very nice piece). And although I'm not partial to them, at least 2 of the "reduced" automatic Speedies have date functions.
