Fading Second Hand Q

I purchased a SMP almost four years ago, and find that the orange/red color at the tip of the second hand is beginning to fade. Is this a common after such a short period of time? My Jeweler suggested it might be caused by two factors. One being moisture and the other sunlight. Another concern I have is that the warranty card identifies the jeweler in Bad Sassendorf, when I actually purchased it from my Canadian Jeweler? Any thoughts?
Answer:
It was nagging at me so I had it replaced. There are reports of
fading second hand from US and Europe based owners as well so
sunlight may not be the sole factor after all.
Answer:
Thanks for the info, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one. I suppose the next step would be to have it replaced. My jeweler suggested his watch guy can easily fix it by applying the, as he put it "watch makers enamel" to the second hand. Sounds a bit goofy to me. You mentioned you had your replaced, is that correct?
Answer:
Since you have a guy who may be able to fix the red paint on,
why don't you order a new second hand, have it installed in place
of the old one, and have the old one painted/fixed by the guy?
If it turns out okay, then good and you will have a spare second
hand for future use if the need arises. If it turns out bad, then
just keep it as a souvenir.
Answer:
That's a good idea. I was a bit concerned, should he paint it, and I end up with some goofy looking hands. I'll see about ordering the part and having it replace. How did you get your replacement part?

Cheers
Hans
