domed glass (Seamaster) compared to flat ones?(Submariner)

More resistance? Rolex has the flat crystal because they are slow to change and update because people will willingly throw money at them for what they are currently selling based on name and image alone...Flat sapphire was the norm when sapphire came out due to the difficulty in working it, however with advances in modern tech the cost of making a domed sapphire crystal has come down...

I personally love the raised look of Rolex flat crystal but will be the first to admit that when compared to domed from a design standpoint, flat sucks. "Semper Ubi Sub Ubi" Thank you guys. While domed crystals are not subject to the whitewash effect that flat cyrstals are, it is easier to adjust a flat crystal to any angle which cancels out all reflection, unlike a domed crystal which always seems to have some reflection no matter what you do.

Domed crystals seemed to get bumped easier because their height makes them an easier target.

True, but it seems the sapphire crystal on my triple-date is near impervious to scratches. I know it should have at least a couple by now, 'cause even though I'm careful, I wear it pretty much all the time. This is a double edged sword: On the one hand, it saves your bezel fom getting scratched up (to some extent), yet on the other hand there is a risk of jaring the crystal loose -- could be a problem for divers, for example.
