P.S. As a side note, one of the regular participants here on TZ was in Apollo 13 as a flight controller, and I think the Speedmaster he owns is the one he wore during the film.
When your watch gets out of order you have a choice of two things to do: throw it in the fire or take it to the watch-tinker. The former is the quickest. -MT

I bought the DVD "Marooned" (1969) because it has a speedy in it.. here it is
Bearing mind that this is a 1969 film, what do you see ?
- twisted lug ( & crown guard )
- Professional on the dial
- applied marker ( it IS there you just can't see it )
- WHITE Velcro strap ( OK maybe they didn't know that NASA were using black)
- RED Centre second hand !!! Now that IS interesting. I can't believe that a film company would go to the effort of painting it red, for a film ( & to be honest the second hand plays no part in the film, it's not like you HAVE to notice it )
So did it come from Omega like this ?
I dunno. But I'm sure I've seen a professional with a red centre second hand before somewhere ( & I don't mean the MKII racing, or the "prototype" with the white dial & "space ship" sub-dial hands )
Real or modified ? I'm not sure anyone can say now.

In the Right Stuff, there are shots of to EVA suits together and you can see the speedies (assuming they are speedies) strapped on the outside of the suits, right above the glove couplings with black velcro. I like that movie.

I just worked with Dave Scott, one of the man to walk on the Moon filming a IMAX 3D "Magnificent Desolation". I hate to tell you guys but all the speedes the prop guys use were fake. Dave Scott was real impressed when I showed him my real one. :-)
