Thinking of selling my 125 to fund a PO. Would YOU do it?

Sell the Speedmaster 125 to get a PO. [ 25 vote(s) ] 1. NO (Keep the 125. It's limited) 19 / 76% 2. YES (Sell it and get the PO) 6 / 24% I thought I'd ask my fellow WIS, mates =). I'm torn between keeping my "125" which I love but find rather "Bulky" and "Vintage" compared to the rest of my collection, or buying the newer Omega model, the PO. I really like the PO but I already own two great divers watches that I'd never sell (My Sea-Dweller and SeMP). The "125" is limited and the PO is not. The PO is more "abundant" and will grow even more so as the years go by but I really like the looks of it and would fit my collection more then the older Speedmaster 125. So, any views would and are greatly appreciated.

Answer:
There will be time enough to get the PO. I love and have the PO.

You already know the answer QT, PO's will be very common, whereas the 125... Regards, KierΩn
Answer:
I don't know,
if it's your only Speedy, I'd keep it.
If you have others, I'd be more inclined to get a PO.
I'd also wait till the Bazel Fair to see what new stuff comes out.

Answer:
you can sell me the 125 and when you sack up and can handle the real responsibilities of being a WIS then you can buy it back.

Real responsibilities of being a WIS...
1) forsaking all else to advance your watch collection, to include not feeding your childern to save money for your collection, and/or cooking the family dog/cat/hamster.

2)In the event that you still don't have the proper funds, you can sell a child to help fund the purchase or use the child as a bargining chip if the seller is willing to accept trades.

3)Selling your wifes diamond engagment ring and pretending she lost it, once again to help fund new purchases.

4) making the kids share a room and renting out the other rooms to stangers and using the rent money to help fund the purhcase of a new watch.

5)selling your car and using that money to buy a watch. it aint like you gotta drive to the AD, you just gotta log on to TZ!

dont sell it.

Hi Andrew

Sounds like we are in the same boat...

As you know I also have a 125 and have tried to sell her once already. The sale fell through because I did not want to post to an un-confirmed PayPal address in Hong Kong.

The potential sale created mixed emotions; I was pleased with the closing price but sad to see such a unique watch go.

If I ever sell my 125 I don’t think I would get another, but I do feel kind of attached to this one and appreciate the quality of the movement and design.

If I did decide to sell and buy another watch / or swap /trade for another watch it would definitely be vintage – not a brand new one..

The Planet Ocean is a fantastic watch, but will also undoubtedly be around and easily available for many years to come…..

Tough choice – but great to have that choice…

Good luck

Well I don't have a PO - but if I did I would sell the PO rather than the 125. As well as enjoying owning and wearing my watches I am also looking at the long term picture and think that in say 10 years the 125 will be worth a lot more than the PO

My 125 would only go if say I found a Grail or similar and needed to generate some cash. It would go ahead of my pre moon speedys but not to buy a modern watch.

Now if the 125 and PO were my only watches and I needed to drop one - I would sell the 125 as it is not really a practical day to day watch.

Good luck
