Watch-Pop

Something's fishy about this box and warranty card.

I think it's fake. How about you?
Answer:
Is the warranty caard stamped or anything? Regards, KierΩn
Answer:
You see loads of these on the unmentionable auction site but what I don't understand is how come there's usually a warranty card with them? As most people know, when the watches arrive from Omega, they don't actually arrive in that box, they come in a clear, thin but rigid bubble type pack, along with the warranty and other cards and the hang tags. The dealer has the actual boxes in a cupboard or whatever, which are coded to the watch in the dealer catalogue, along with the card holder, manual and outer box, in this case it's a No.3. The item you're showing raises a few questions, such as, what happened to the watch? If the customer didn't want the box for some reason, why wasn't he given the warranty card which is unique to that watch? Why sell the box with a warranty card that is, to all intents and purposes, useless? If the box is secondhand, say the watch itself was stolen or lost for example, why wouldn't they just sell the box without the "big deal, there's a useless warranty card with it" emphasis? There's too many of them about for them all to be genuine I feel. Regards, KierΩn
Answer:
My 2000 model SMP Titanium came in a box like that... with gold letters instead of silver and with a funky (now lost) warranty card. CHIP

I never knew that :) "We have differences but we're not made different. If you don't agree with me, you're wrong". Clement Greenberg
Answer:
Forgive me for making assumptions. :-) Yes, they are shipped from Switzerland in these, the middle section holds the cards and hang tags, the lower section folds over and holds the watch itself and the top section folds over like a lid, bearing the stickers with serial number, bar codes, box code, etc. You may just be able to make out the embossed Omega logo under the sticker on the top left hand side, crap photo I know, I placed it on the catalogue for clarity. My dealer gave me a few of these last time I was there, they're useful for taking your older watches for servicing for example.

Bit weird isn't it, knowing your expensive timepiece arrived in this... Regards, KierΩn
Answer:
I can't see enough detail in the card to be sure, but the box looks legit. Whoever wrote "Love means never having to say you're sorry" was clearly NOT married!
