Winding an automatic Seamaster?

I have a Seamaster Pro automatic. I don't wear it often enough to keep it wound up. I'm happy to wind it by holding it and rotating the whole watch. With a hand-wind, I can feel the spring tension so I know when to stop.

My question is: how any turns winds the SeaMP fully?
Answer:
it usually takes about 40 to 50 turns in a posative direction. don't worry, you can't overwind it, it has an overwind protection. the rotor winds the watch very slowly, shaking it will take over an hour to fully wind it. maybe a winder case is worth buying.

hope this helps

Answer:
There's a very easy way to tell when your Seamaster is fully wound. Keep turing the crown until you hear a clicking noise as you turn. This is the overwind protection mechanism kicking in, which means your watch is fully wound. You may have to hold the watch close to your ear to hear the clicking noise, but you'll definitely hear it.
Answer:
Do all newer Omegas have overwind protection? Thanks. Current: 3570.50 Speedmaster Wanted: Rolex GMT, Seamaster Pro. Chrono, PO
Answer:
Only automatics. Regards, KierΩn
Answer:
Yes, all newer Omega automatic watches do have the overwind protection. The manual wind watches like the Moon Watch do not.
Answer:
John,
You're absolutely right (not that I doubted you), you can hear it if you listen closely and are in a quiet room. I noticed it's actually a couple (two) varying clicks. I also was able to hear it on my PO, although the 2500 seems quieter and smoother, almost silk-like. This is really good to know -- thanks, Ray Sapphire-sandwich Speedmaster, Railmaster chronograph, and five Seamasters (classic Bond, GMT, 45.5mm Planet Ocean, electric blue, and SMP chronograph) make up the modern core of a collection that features over 33 vintage Omega's dating back to 1935, including 14 other Seamasters and nine hummers (f300's).
