Thoughts on my visit to the local Omega AD...

I finally got a chance to get down to one of the local Omega AD's near my home. This store is pretty loaded, they carry Omega, Kobold, Hublot, AP, GP, GO, Breitling and more. They're stocking up for the Holidays so they had several models to try on. Specifically the Speedmaster 3570, PO on bracelet in black 42 and orange 42 (sadly no 45), and the SMP 2254. I've seen so many posts about these models and seen lots of pics, but it's not the same as holding them in your hands. I own an SMP 'Bond', so I was already familiar with the feel and quality of Omega in general.I know that the Speedmaster Moon is considered a 'must have' here, but honestly I wasn't sure about it just going from the pics I've seen. Well, I tried it on and WOW. It truly is as beautiful as you all have said. Even with the quility of pictures posted here by my fellow WIS, the photos simply do not do this watch justice. Even the hesalite crystal looked and felt very nice. Very 'retro' look to it. The only detractor to me is the lack of a date feature, but after trying this classic on for myself, I can live without the date. Is it just me, or it the crown a little akward to wind? Anyway, the Speedy Moon is my next goal!Next I tried on the PO in black. What a spectacular watch. I love the matte finish dial, and the bezel is head an shoulders above my SMP Bond bezel. The knurled edge and ratcheting are far superior IMHO. Now, I've tried on a 45 on rubber strap at another store a while ago, and I was surprised that it didn't seem too big for me. I don't have big wrists, so I always assumed that the 45 would be too big. The 42 that I tried on seemed a bit small. Go figure. I think the 42 PO looks a bit small compared to the SMP because the color on the bezel insert is smaller than the SMP, making the dial look smaller. Anyone else feel this way? Also, the 42 was very hefty, quite a bit heavier than my Bond. End result: I think I'd be happy with the 42 or the 45, but I'll probably end up with the 45.Last but not least, the SMP 2254. I really like the look of this one, and again, it's better in person. I like the lume and the sword style hands. The Speedy style bracelet is very comfortable, and gives the watch a different enough look from the Bond that I wouldn't feel too guilty getting it :).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the two Planet Ocean sizes. As you may have read from my previous Posts here, I'm facing a tough decision in this regard, now that the "Casino Royale" watch has been officially acknowledged by Omega SA.

Meantime, I've included a link below to images of my own Omega 2254.50 Seamaster.

To make your decision just a little harder!
