Speedy 3870.50.31 and 3873.50.31 ???s
These are model #s 3870.50.31 and 3873.50.31. Based on the Omega website, they are leather-banded Professional models, the former having the Hesalite crystal, the latter having a sapphire crystal.
Are both watches 42mm in diameter?
What are the casebacks? I imagine the Hesalite model is solid, while the sapphire could be a display back...does anyone know what the wording on each of the backs, or have scans of them?
I have narrowed by next purchase down to these and two other watches, and the details may push me in the right direction.
Thanks.
Answer:
Yes, both are the same size at ~42 mm. Yes, the current Hesalite crystal model has solid back, sapphire crystal model has display back. Vita somnium breve.
Answer:
Thanks, fivedime. Does the solid back Hesalite model have any wording on the back?
Does the display back sapphire model say the words: "The first and only watch worn on the moon."? I've read that is factually incorrect and do not want to pay a lot of $$$ for something that one of my smart friends is going to punk me with.
Answer:
Now you're gonna make me go get my Speedy ;-) Solid back says, "Flight qualified by NASA for all manned space missions...the first watch worn on the Moon."
I believe they have corrected the display back and it once again just says "First watch worn on the Moon..." but I could be wrong. Vita somnium breve.
Answer:
Again, thanks. Just the info I needed!
Answer:
I have yet to have any confirmation of that fact.
Does anyone have a recent sapphire/sapphire or Speedy Pro Moon Phase with the correct wording?
