First QC issue with an Omega. Any advice???

I purchased a new 42mm PO from our favorite dealer last week. Factory fresh as usual and a typical smooth transaction.

This morning while sitting with my newspaper in front of the tv I glanced at the time and noticed a small glinting speck on top of the date wheel near the "2" I thought it was something on the AR coating so I wiped the crystal clean. Still there. I then ran the date wheel all the way through the month back to "12" the speck re-appeared at 12. It looks almost like the paint used for the numerals left a small drop inside the curve of the 2, it is either that or a small sliver of metal or maybe a speck of dust.

Whatever it is, I am kind of bummed. This is a beautifully made watch and to find something like this is dissapointing. Any idea what I should do?

I don't want to send this back to Omega because it will be gone for way too long.

I hate like h-ll to have it opened up because it is only a week old.

Should I press for a new watch??? I would normally just leave it alone if it was a scratch on the case or bracelet from a showcase watch. But this does kind of bother me. Especially after forking out a decent amount of $$$ for a watch.

Thoughts???
Answer:
Sorry to hear about the defect you found. I guess if the AD you bought from allows for an exchange, you could do that. I had a PO and I found a speck of dust on the minute or hour hand. I hated the watch everytime I saw that defect. Similar to you, I don't like the idea of sending my new watch in for a repair. I feel that manufacturers should get their quality act together instead of using the warranty service to fix what's not right that could have been in the first place. Like it or not, Omega definitely has slip up in either or both their R&D and quality control.
Answer:
Very Reasonable Fellow and I believe he will work with you on this. You are correct, imo, that the watch should Meet your expectations.

Good Luck...

He is a great guy. This is the 4th watch I have purchased from him.

I feel like I would be asking a lot for a replacement but on a watch this new and costing this much this should not be an issue.

Answer:
My Speedie Pro has been back to the local Swatch service centre twice for warranty issues, and I just noticed last week another piece of lint has appeared on the dial (where the hell are they coming from?). It's not worth putting up with that feeling that it isn't right every time you look at the watch.

It won't stop me buying another Omega; my next watch will probably be a Seamaster. I have just accepted that Omega's QC isn't up there with similar watches. Steve
Answer:
If a new watch has a defect no matter how small take it back to the seller for a replacement, never allow a new watch to be sent back or opened IMO.
