Beware of New Old stock
Hope this information will be useful. I was wondering why there are so many new old stocks selling at ebay.
Answer:
ongoing threat to legit jewelry and watches. Even what may be vintage and bares the age was at that time copied as well. The best common sense that anyone can do, is educate, locate and beware of anything you buy. Fakes cross all lines, including cd's clothing and so on, and so on. Thanks for bringing this up as a continuing reminder for the new members whom may not be so enlightened.. And yes sometimes the seller will tell you that they are fake because people will buy them just to look good from a distance. You can find this all over the net (world). Sometimes it is so close that only an expert can tell the difference. **Speedmaster Professional-3570.50** **Speedmaster Professional Moonphase-3576.50** According to its maker it takes 14 months to make 195 individual parts and 80 hand operations to assemble. When finished it was apparent it was 50 years ahead of its time. It is currently undergoing modifications to handle even more extreme conditions and temperature variations: Omega Speedmaster Professional source: Omega The following link to AWCI will help you find a Certified Watchmaker/Repair Facility in your area:http://www.watch-clock-makers.org/
If I don't know what I am doing, both will rip me off equally.
Answer:
Being that this is an Omega watch forum, I am baffled how you could extrapolate information here to apply to any other arena. That is the logical fallacy of hasty inductive generalization. As far as I know, there aren't Asian copies of Ford automobiles sold sight-unseen on the internet. In other words: Omega advice does not necessarily apply to Ford advice, or any other market.
Answer:
Just to add my 2 cents. I've bought an Omega off ebay and it was fine. Good deal too. I just made sure I asked the right question and was 99% confident when I bought it. I do agree that we do need to beware when buying anywhere then from an AD but if you do have the education, its not as risky as it sounds.
Answer:
Van could you PM me with the URL. Re using or not using ADs and inductive and deductive reasoning......I thought we were talking about VINTAGE Omegas.
There are fake 18k gold cases bearing vintage Constellation livery being spewed out from the land of the Big Squeeze.....perhaps the ultimate Maoist expression of disdain for capitalist icons - or - yet another group of opportunists seeking to rip off us potato eaters? :)

Answer:
They generally use brushes that big to paint bridges not describing watch sales. There are many sources for Omega watches other than AD's out there in the world so good some not so good. The same thing can be said concerning some AD's as well some good some not so good, having a sign in front of a store doesn't automatically make you a "good guy" to deal with.
