Definitive Info About Straps and Tools
- For a tool, it seems like the Bergeon 6111 spring bar tool is a good device and Otto Frei sells it. Is there something else I should consider? I just need a basic tool set for my variety of watches.
- I am lost as to a good US source of straps (carbon fibers, NATOs, etc.). Does anyone have any suggestions?
If it helps, I am looking to put my Speedy Pro on a carbon fiber initially and then play around with my others eventually.
Thanks,
Jonathan
Answer:
For the carbon strap, Hirsch makes some nice stuff. For the NATO, you can find those on Ebay, but I will PM you the name of another place that I go to for those. If you are interested look at this tool....
The Bergeon 6825 pliers for bracelets. It is easier to use that it appears.

Thanks JB. Another forum member says that Hirsch switched how they made the carbon fibers from a fabric type to more of a plastic type. I know what he is referring to. Do you know of another good carbon fiber band?
Answer:
No problem. Look at Hadley-Roma and Di-Modell. I have not handled these so I cannot comment on their texture but they look nice in the pictures I have seen. ~JB ~PANTON VEL NUSQUAM~ ***The following link to AWCI will help you find a Certified Watchmaker/Repair Facility in your area:http://www.watch-clock-makers.org/ *** - 2001: A Space Odyssey

Could you tell me also? Thanks
Answer:
Maybe somebody can tell me what I'm doing wrong but I have never been able to use it to remove the pins on my Planet Ocean (20mm). It just wouldn't grab both sides and allow me to squeeze them together. The PO seems to be really hard to remove pins compared to my SMP Bond or my SMP GMT. I can get them out with just a springbar tool or a small screwdriver. I've really been tempted to just sell it and take a big loss!
