X-33, invite all comments good & bad

Perhaps like many, I seem to still have the X-33 bug. I would ask that any owners (long and short term) please share some ownership comments. Thanks in advance.
Answer:
The only draw backs that hurt the X-33 was the MSRP for a digital multifunction quartz watch and it's looks. It really has a face that only a mother can love and it seems there is only a small handful of people out there willing to shell out big bucks for a multifunction titanium watch.

I know I'm only drawn to it due to it's NASA connection (every time I look at photos from current flights I see it being used) and it's loud alarm.

S123-E-006367 (15 March 2008) --- Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Takao Doi (for those who collect space items I have his autograph from an earlier flight), STS-123 mission specialists, looks over his choices of beverages and snacks at the galley on the middeck of Space Shuttle Endeavour while docked with the International Space Station. (Notice the bottle of No-Rinse Shampoo. That stuff was a godsent for me after I had neurosurgery since I couldn't get my hair wet till my stitches were removed 2-weeks post-op.)

Damon, I always look forward to reading your NASA-inspired posts...I just never realized how big into it you really are (autographs and all). It's a fascinating topic...and I guess you live in the right area to see lots of launches, which are also very fascinating.
I too really want a 2nd gen. x-33 but the whole quartz thing has me worried that I won't be able to get batteries for it in a few years' time...but from what I've read, the alarm is super-loud, and could be a nice change from my Nokia jingle.
Answer:
I have had my X-33 for almost 10 years now. When I bought my 1st-gen X-33 from our "Favorite AD" almost a decade ago, he had the bezel brushed for me before I took delivery, so I never dealt with the shiny bezel. The 1st-gen model with brushed bezel looked pretty good, IMHO. But more recently, I made a few cosmetic revisions by installing the 2nd-gen crown, bezel, and pushbuttons.

I use the X-33 when I travel, mainly due to the very loud alarm and very light weight. It does cost a ton of money for a titanium quartz watch, but the current demand seems to support its price. It has sort of a cult following -- Omega's analogue to the "Rocky Horror Picture Show."
Come to the Boston GTG on Saturday, April 12, 2008!
Answer:
it can be a lot cheaper than collecting watches unless you're a big hitter and want things used on the Moon. I collect odds and ends (autographs are usually cheap and I have gotten some big names in history for less than $30 USD) and have some pieces of flown material from shuttles. I only collect those flown items since my chances of actually exploring space are slim and none so I'm forced to do my exploring from land and admiring pieces of things that have actually been there.

Answer:
They are standard style batteries (CR2320) - used in quite a few devises. Some owners change their own batteries at vast expense (less than $5 for the battery!).

I've had mine for a few years and just love it! Some say it's expensive for a multi-function quartz watch and if I had an improvement would be to have a deeper wtr as it only has 30m wrt dur to being designed for space not sea.

Answer:
its been designed with one thing in mind: to be the ultimate pilots watch, something it achieves quite easily.

It is a "Marmite" watch, but for sheer comfort and legibility/functions and kudos, nothing gets close... Cleaniness is essential when Godliness is improbable
