Is it worth (Australian) $18 000 ?

Although I love my (flawless) broad arrow, lately I've been feeling that I should like to have speedy pro with the Lemania movement. In fact I'd like to perhaps buy the most elaborate and ornate of all the speedy pros, namely the white gold and silver dial moonphase with the black leather strap. Its a very expensive watch. I ask, is it worth it? If anyone out there has had first hand experience with this beautiful watch, what were your impressions? For the money what do you all think are my options in terms of other watchs?
Answer:
So you have to ask yourself is it worth it to spend that much money on a watch.

If I were looking to spend that much money, I'd also look into an A. Lange, Patek, or some rare JLC.

Best Regards,

Damon When your watch gets out of order you have a choice of two things to do: throw it in the fire or take it to the watch-tinker. The former is the quickest. -MT
Answer:
Why don't you check out all the brands first?
See the models in person, try them on and get the feel of them.
You will be able to make a better informed decision eventually.

Answer:
If I was planning to spend that kind of cash I wouldn't be thinking Rolex or Omega. I would be thinking LANGE!
Answer:
...and while it is a very nice watch, I voted not worth it. I traded a JLC and some cash to get the watch. I already had the Speedy Pro moonphase ref: 3575.20 so I had both watches at the same time. But when push came to shove it was the 18kt white gold that was traded off and the steel cased watch is still in the collection.

My bottom line on the watch was that it was just too little watch for the investment. The watch shares the same movement with the less expensive steel cased cousin. It differs only with the case, dial and hands. To me the premium charged for this difference was simply too much. As mentioned by others at that price level there are some really nice watches with names like JLC, Lange, and even Patek.

You mention that you already have a Broad Arrow, so that should cover the chronograph niche in your collection. And if you are considering the addition of a watch with a moonphase complication, look at a JLC Master Moon, a JLC Reverso Sun/Moon, or a Blancpain 2763 Moonphase. You will have a much more sophisticated and dressier watch with not only the moonphase and date, but also the day and month complications.

There's nothing wrong with that gold Speedy Moonphase, per se, but there are better watches out there for the same dollars from your budget.

Just my $0.02 YMMV. Don's Axiom: It's going to be a used watch when I sell it or trade it. It may as well be a used watch when I buy it.
Answer:
it can be done. A Rolex DD or Daytona may hold it's value but I find little aesthetically pleasing about either, personally, and the Daytona is horrendously overpriced. But hey, demand is high so if you want one have at it!

Answer:
to spend that sum on a speedmaster. I think there is only one speedmaster, the SS moonwatch. finis. if you want to spend that amount I'll go with no doubt Rolex 6239 with white dial and black spheres.
