I NEED TO MAKE MY FINAL DECISION
I have a budget between 3k-5k for a reliable watch , I do not care if its a diver or a pilot or on the dressy side and have no specific complication expectations , ( I not very fond of chronos I must say )
I have a few options in my hand as,
IWC 3255 - Spitfire Mark 16 -strap
IWC 3717 - Pilot Chrono -strap
Ulysse Nardin -1846 Maxi Marine Chronometer-strap
and there is one other which I have mixed feelings about it , ITS PO 42mm Orange Bezel on bracelet ,
How would you compare my options and Would you suggest PO over others , Of course these are very different watches and It all comes down to personal preference , But I value any opinions here coming from you ,
I just would like to make up my mind soon , go and buy it so so I can post you a nice wrist shot here ,
Answer:
Do not take life too seriously. Remember, no one gets out alive.
Answer:
thank you for your response , My main dilemma is PO is the cheapest I can get from the list ( yet has a better look + bracelet ), since I have more allocated budget , Should I spend + 1k-2k for other 2 options or no need to ???
Answer:
The PO is best value for your money and a very reliable watch all around. I do not know the price of the UN maxi-marine, but I would put that as a second choice. If you go for the PO (which you should ;-)) you could get some different straps for it to customize it.

Answer:
Don't be afraid of the 45mm .It lays nicely on the wrist .
HI ! My name is Mark ...and I'm addicted to " WATCH PORN ! "
Answer:
The PO is going to be more durable, waterproof and modern than the others. The 3717 is nice...but the PO will be a better all around option.
Answer:
Go for the PO - I've had 2 POs (soon to be 3 perhaps) and the Spitfire. IMO the PO is better able to cope with everything that life might throw at it - because of the Spitfire's smaller size (39mm) and dressier appearance, I always felt more protective towards it and wouldn't do half the things I would do with a PO on. Also, you will probably find that one fine mechanical watch isn't enough - look on the savings you make buying the PO as a down payment on your next watch!
Answer:
... but I'd pick the 3717 over the PO. If you're not fond of chronos, I'm not sure why it's on your list. Roger
Answer:
It's a great watch which will hold up well over the years (both to fashion and abuse). I've owned the 42 and 45 in black and the 42 in orange. The 42 Black is my fav. I'll grab another one this Spring. Also, what the Sales Corner as they come available frequently. Good luck.

Omega: Seamaster Aqua Terra; '67 Speedmaster Professional; '60 Pie Pan Constellation. Rolex: Datejust 116234. Others: misc. vintage pieces.
Answer:
For $5K you can get a PO and a Speedmaster, that way you have the PO you like and a Chrono.
Answer:
I own an Omega Broad Arrow, SMP GMT, SMP in TI - all great watches. Omega will give you the best bang for the buck, no question, no comparison. However... UN will provide:
- the best overall build quality of the three. (close up detail that has to be seen via a loop to be appreciated)
- they are known for providing the best after-the-sale service.
- will be the most exclusive by far.
- will be noticed, will be commented on, but rarely recognized (see exclusivity)
And this comment which I read (not my words, but I agree):
"The Ulysse Nardin 1846 is simply one of the most artistically endearing and classically proportioned modern day timepieces ever created, bar none. Every design element incorporated into this piece embodies such everlasting and timeless refinement."

Answer:
thank you for your great comment on UN , I totaly agree ...I have examined the watch itself closely and liked it. Its the most expensive one in my list and the most exclusive also ,
the only reason I have not decided on UN yet is the budget concern , I am living in İstanbul-Turkey and the MRSP here is quite a bit more than you have there and the final discounted price will still be about % 15 more than my highest allocation , on the other hand when you go up to that price level , all options have some sort of atraction to buyer .. either on movement , design , brand reputation etc ... and its becoming more complex to make a decision ,
Answer:
Most of the time people are deciding between two very similar models. You've got some contrasting choices that together would make an attractive collection in themselves. My least favourite is the Spitfire. The other three are classic. I don't think you can go wrong with the Planet Ocean... But the IWC also has the day and date... and great legibility. A very nice rendition of a modern "pilot's watch". So I think 1. PO
2. IWC 3717
3. UN 1846
4. IWC Spitfire
Good luck!
Answer:
All of those watches are great choices. As an owner of a Spitfire Mark XVI (sorry not on a strap as I live in Florida) I can't say enough about this watch. It is just a beautiful watch that can be used in dress situations as well as casual situations. It is also a watch that not too common so that is a plus factor. Like most IWC watches, the Mark XVI is understated but the dial is just incredible. When you go to your AD have them show you the dial under different lighting conditions. It really is something to see. Ulysse Nardin is also a great company with a wonderful reputation. You can't go wrong with the PO either. I have several Omegas and love them. However the Spitfire Mark XVI is just a great watch. Keeps great time and it is different. I say "go different". You can't go wrong with any of your choices.
Answer:
Sorry about that. Still learning to post photos.
Answer:
I agree. I have a small wrist but I decided on the PO 45.5. I have no regrets and it sits nice and flat on the wrist and does not move a lot as would have on a 42mm.
Answer:
Thank you everyone for all your advise and information , I have been to my favorite AD where they have several brands available , and my final decision came out for a IWC 3717-12 Pilot Chrono Laureus Limited edition... I had seen the watch before and they have offered me a good deal so I took it , I am waiting for tomorrow to pick it up ...
