Answer:
hi salvador,if there is a sub with a cartier inscription on the dial,it might have been the case that a cartier boutique may have retailed a small batch of rolex watches but not a particular model of sub,just like tiffany and co did before turning to their own creations.Although cartier were already making watches and had done for many years,they might have retailed other brands in small quanties for favoured customers.i believed i have seen a 6265 daytona which had a cartier insciption but i can't remember for sure.there are a lot of rarities out there and shouldn't just be dismissed as fakes such as the panama canal subs and other sub specials.

Hi S;
There used to be only 3 Cartier stores in the world, Paris, London & NYC. Only the NYC had a Rolex franchise. So quite a lot of watches were sold through that store.
All Cartier watches have a Cartier serial number stamped behind the lug. Check that the number is there, call the Cartier archive dept in NYC, ask if the two numbers are shown in their records as belonging to the same watch.
If they do, then you have the rare 1% of watches signed Cartier which actually have something to do with Cartier.
Good Luck

Salvador,
When I had the one below, I tried everything to get someone at Cartier NYC to look into its history. The Sub was 2231XXX serial number, and was made in the fourth quarter of 1968. It did indeed have a reference number 1402XX stamped (not engraved) on the back of the 5:00 lug. I'm fairly resourceful, yet no one at Cartier could/would fork over any information. I then sent it to Rolex NYC for a Retail Service Estimate and they were able to tell me that it was originally sold in Argentina, and not in the U.S. This was enough information for me to suspect that it was not indeed a verifiable Cartier Submariner. The seller was good enough to refund my money. I think that, as a rule, original paperwork from Cartier may be the only way to verify the authenticity of a Cartier Rolex.
Best,
Karl

Case lug stamp, 100% correct. Sorry for the poor pics. This one has papers from Cartier NYC, as well as RNY

Hi Nobita,
that's a(nother) nice watch you got here.
Is the clasp regular or is it stamped Cartier?
