Questions about changing 1675 crystal for one w/o cyclops..

I've seen a few 1680s here that are worn with a crystal without the cyclops.
I would like to wear my 1675 with a crystal that is slightly domed and without the cyclops. My ex 5513 had a crystal like this.
My local watchmaker measured the original crystal and couldn't come up with a substitute.
Can someone please advise which crystal to use and where to find it.
Cheers

Answer:
There is no cyclops-free crystal for the 1675; however, some people have removed their cyclops. Two ways mentioned in a previous post was to use a jeweler's chisel or a jeweler's vice. In the former, place the chisel between the cyclops and crystal & tap smartly with a small hammer - it should pop right off (held with clear glue). In the latter, lock the cyclops in the vice and twist sharply.
Note of caution: either method could crack/chip the crystal!
As the owner of a 1675, I say leave the cyclops alone - it's part of the character of the watch.

I dont think you can chop-off the eye on a plastic crystal. This may work on a saphire crystal because of its hardness, but on a plastic crystal, you will probably take a gouge out of the flat surface. Once that happens, I doubt that even polishing the crystal will give you a un-distorted view.

From a recent post about a beautiful 16750 GMT, I suggest to look for a crystal "Tropic 38" which might also fit the 1675. Gives a very nice and smooth look. However, the date aperture will look rather far towards the center of the dial compared to the indices.
I fitted a Daydate 1803 with a non-cyclops crystal once but returned to original soon afterwards. The date looked very much misplaced.

Answer:
...it is Tropic 38--I remember from previous posts because many of our French members have chosen this option for some mystifying cultural reason. And with a plastic crystal, I seriously doubt that one can remove the Cyclops without destroying it.

i thought some of the early 1675s were even offered w/o a cyclops.
