Really nice shots, Max! And great collection, too. Why is it that we, WISes are also into fountain pens? This Chinese bugger is my daily writer (and a good one at that) ...and the crappy vintage herd

BytheBay, I think we just appreciate fine instruments...LOL:) How else would we spend our time and money. But that pen has a little story to it and here it is.....
My girlfriend's parents (at the time, now my in-laws) bought me my first fountain pen, the one in the pic. A limited writers edition Alexandre Dumas Montblanc. Also seen here.
Here is the kicker, each pen has a signature on the screw cap...
Montbanc in its research made a mistake. Dumas (the famed author of The Count of Monte Cristo) had a son (some say illegitamate) who also had the same name, and was a author and playwright as well. When they released these pens in 1996, shortly thereafter, they were recalled because they had realized that they had inscribed Alexandre Dumas' Jr (the Son's) signature. So an extremely small number of these pens "got out" due to the early sales. I was lucky enough to get this as a gift upon my undergraduate graduation. Only 2-3 years later (by some reports) did Montblanc say why they recalled the pens from the Jewellers and specialty stores. And apparently released the following document of the signatures.
Just a little other than watches....in the here Seiko Forum.

Max

Over the last few months, I've aquired a few nice fountain pens. An interesting pen is a lot of fun.

Thanks. I agree, pens are tremendous fun. But I sold off a few, all I have left are the one in the pic, a couple of montbanc 75th anniversary editions and a gold/black resin ball point. The rest go to watches and the associated literature. Thanks for your responses, Shawn. Regards,
Max

a day seems normal :) But, I can get by with the same pen for weeks. I dont mind filling a fountain pens, but keeping them clean and rotating before they dry out can get old... Cheers Max!
