Doh....

So now it's my turn... I managed to scratch my BM's crystal today :( That so called "hardlex" isn't that hard after all ;) Now I won't dare using my Sami, don't wan't to ruin that crystal to :( I guess I'll wear my Traser H3 (saphire crystal) untill I saved up for a Breitling Super Ocean Steelfish... Any suggestions on a $150 - $200 Seiko Diver or other tough auto to calm my need's in the meentime?
Answer:
Good thing about it is parts are widly available, some people retrofitted with sapphire even. One scratch and lover fair is over is a sad ending.

I do collect vintages also, since crystals are the regular replacement items i do stock some just incase and change it myself.

Best regards,
Kohei
Answer:
Yes a suppose I get I saphire for it. Wish there was saphire aftermarket crystals for the samurai, I really love that watch. Wearing it but I'm a little more careful now :D Realy love the look and feel of it now when on a zulu. The loveaffair isn't over though. How can one not love the seiko's? :D
Answer:
..Hardlex mineral glass get scratched pretty easily and costs more to replace than acrylic which can of course be easily polished and cheaply replaced if neccesary.

Sapphire is pretty much scratch resistant but doesn't look as nice as acrylic IMO. Cheers, Neil.
Answer:
Is there acrylic for the BM to buy somewhere?
Answer:
if it's not scratched too deep, you might try polishing with some diamond grit- i posted about trying it on my "beater" aerospace with saphire crystal and the results were outstanding - this grit is used for polishing optical lenses and comes in grits from 2 micron (14,000 grit) to .5 micron (100,000 grit)
and fairly inexpensive - link to where to buy etc at post below

as you've already "ruined" the crystal, there isn't anything to loose

if it helps
