IWC help request

Hi all, lurker who has just registered. Great forum with a great bunch of regulars on here. I hope you guys can help me.
I have been trying to find a photo of the first original 1939 IWC Portugeiser but not having much luck. I have seen photos of the IWC re-issue, but just wanted to confirm if it was an faithful replica of the original as they sometimes give re-issues an updated look.
The reason is I made a flea market find a few months back, had it repaired and serviced and just doing some research on it. Not as good as a $2 Patek, but I think it may be an orignal Portugeiser as its very similar to the reissue expect the numerals are set differently. Any info would be much appreciated..

your find may be better than a patek

Thanks Ed - very interesting but still undecided! I think the paragraph stating that the Portugese was dialled in whatever was available at the time, makes it much harder to be certain. I did spot a dial which was very similar....
The serial no. dates to about 1939 but I will post photos later tonight, hopefully the IWC experts on here will be able to help me deduce. I may also contact IWC to get a definitive yes or no...

Some photos and info - Watch has a Calibre 83, Dial is similar to some of the Portugeisers and is quite big at 39mm incl the recessed crown. Watch and movement serials are both dating it to around 1938-39.
It probably isn't a Portugeiser as I originally thought(shame!)as the movement calibre appears to be incorrect for a Portugeiser, but any more info or thoughts about this watch would be much appreciated!

Prob not a Portugeiser as the calibre appears to be incorrect. Serial nos. dating this to about 1938 - 1939, quite big at 39mm incl. the recessed crown. Any info thoughts or thoughts about this model (does it have a name) would be greatly appreciated...
