Lucien Picard

I have inherited a Lucien Piccard watch. The back of the watch has the (14K) Lucien Piccard signature and the number 88791. I have the origional watch boxes, guarantee, pamplet of the questions most frequently aske4d about Lucien Piccard, and the electronic recording of the accuracy of the watch. My father gave this watch to my mother between 1963-1965. the watch works but, the sapphire is missing off the winding strem. It is white gold with 6 diamond accents.
I am intrested in replacing the sapphire and finding out the value of the watch.
Answer:
Unless you like the Chinese alternative.I mean the whole crown. Now, how big are those diamonds?
Answer:
Three small diamonds on each side of band.
Answer:
The value will be mostly sentimental. I say repair the watch. Replace the crown with what ever available but keep the original part when exchanged. Since the watch is gold, I say, have the watch maker write an Insurance Appraisal and keep it in your records. That is in case you want to insure it. The Appraisal is good for five years. The repair cost shouldn’t exceed $100. Don’t let the watch maker talk you into changing the movement to quartz.
let me know if you have any other questions.
Good luck
